What Aspiring Chefs Need to Know About Making the Perfect Steak

If you look forward to a nice steak dinner, but you cannot find a time to get away or you don’t fancy going to a restaurant, then you can cook the perfect steak dinner at home. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you achieve your steak goals.

Types of Meat

When you go to the grocery store, you will see several different types of steak. For a lovely steak dinner, look for a porterhouse steak. This steak cut comes from the rear of the short loin. You may also want to consider a ribeye as it comes from the center of the beef cow’s ribs. Finally, you may want to consider the sirloin as it comes from the short loin and the round. Whichever steak you choose, get one with lots of marbling in it as this will increase the flavor of your steak and helps to keep it juicy. Look for options that are at least 1 inch thick.

Needed Accessories

Many people think that steak is a difficult food to master, but when you are prepared for an excellent meal, you can enhance your enjoyment. You will need a good steak knife to eat your steak. The kind of knife adds to the cost of steaks in restaurants. The best serving plates for your steak dinner are cast iron or another option that you can heat in the oven. That way, your steak stays warmer longer, and you can even serve it sizzling hot. Of course, you will want to set a romantic tone for your steak dinner with your fancy silverware and some candlelight.

Preparing Your Steak Dinner

There are several tricks to fixing an excellent steak dinner. The day before you want to cook your steak, put it in the refrigerator in a plastic bag filled with marinade. You can make your marinade by combining the following ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoons dried basil
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon dried parsley flakes
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper

Put the marinade in the plastic bag and put your meat in it. Make sure that the marinade completely covers the meat. Let it sit for at least 24 hours. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade. Move your oven shelf to its highest setting. Turn the oven on to broil at its highest temperature. Wait until the pan gets extremely hot. Now, put the steak in it. Broil for four minutes. Flip the steak over and broil for another four minutes. Remove the pan from the oven. Now, put your cast iron plate in the oven and let it get hot.

Meanwhile, tent the steak with aluminum foil and wait 10 minutes. Place the meat on the serving plate. Cut it into bite-size pieces against the grain and enjoy it.

Preparing an excellent steak meal at home is easy. There is no need to go out for a $100 meal when you can enjoy it at home.
