Why Your Home Needs a Kid-Friendly Bathroom

For most individuals, there are three certainties in life: death, taxes and time spent in the bathroom. Most bathrooms are a bit of a confining place, but we definitely want to make sure our children are safe in this area of our home. The reason is simple, the bathroom is where we can practice cleanliness. Thus, we need to teach our kids at a young age to be comfortable in this important room in our house. Here are some reasons why.

It Encourages Good Habits

The first step to teaching a child good bathroom etiquette is to teach them to be comfortable in this room. Things such as potty training, wiping correctly, washing hands, flossing, brushing teeth and teaching a child on the cusp of puberty how to shave all start with the understanding that the bathroom is not an intimidating place. The way you do this is to keep this area of your house as clean as possible and to keep it looking nice too.

It Doesn’t Take Major Changes

With just a little thought and research you can find the types of vanities kids like and will have them playing where you want them to. If you have a small bathroom, you probably should consider getting a kid’s vanity, available at many major brick-and-mortar and online retail outlets. Moreover, a simple step can make the toilet less intimidating. For example, if your child is too small for this, simply include a miniature step ladder for them so they can sit on the stool easily.

There Are Plenty of Themes to Choose From

One of the best ways to make your bathroom kid-friendly would be to make it in one color. For example, if you have an only child, you can make it in their favorite color. If the room has a lot of eye appeal, it will help them feel more comfortable. Another thing you can do would be to decorate the room with one of their favorite cartoon characters or sports stars. Is your child into crafts? Then go to a craft store to find things to decorate the room with. You can do just about anything you want with this room!

Making your bathroom kid-friendly will not only be helpful to your child, but it will set your mind at ease too because you will know that they are well on their way to having good bathroom habits for a lifetime.
