Clogged drains happen from time to time, and when it does it can be quite frustrating for homeowners. The good news is, boiling water can help in this instance. If you have a small drain blockage, you can use boiling water to remove the pesky blockage. After putting a pot of water on the stove to boil, use a plunger on the sink to start loosening the clog and then carefully pour the boiling water down the drain to break the clog.

Remove Stains

Another area where boiling water excels is with removing stains. Stains can be tricky to remove but certain stains respond well to boiling water such as with fruit stains.

For more complex stains that are found on linens or clothing, you can immerse the stain in a pot of boiling water until the stain has diminished. If you’re dealing with a carpet stain, you can boil a pot of water and pour it over the stain in small amounts. Be sure to keep a sponge handy to wipe up any excess water so that it doesn’t soak your carpet.

Thaw Your Frozen Foods

Homelife can get hectic, and sometimes you need to quickly prepare a meal for you and your family. But how do you achieve this goal when your food is still frozen? A quick remedy is boiling water. While a microwave is always a go-to option, a microwave may cook and not thaw when it comes to certain foods.

For instance, if you’re cooking with frozen fruits or vegetables, you will find that a microwave will quickly turn your foods into mush if you’re not careful. This means that delicate foods need a less extreme approach. You can use boiling water to pour over your delicate foods a little at a time until it is to your liking.
